Humans are hungry, hungry creatures. We find it troublesome to go long periods of time without eating and drinking. Attempting to go to bed on an empty stomach can prove to be quite troublesome and even sickening to some and yet when it comes to our mental and spiritual state we are clearly underfed.

Nourishment is, supplementing ourselves with that which makes us grow and sustain health. The essence of the nutriment is what allows our bodies and minds to heal and be or become complete functioning tools.

Humans rely on love, compassion and affection to survive just as much as food, shelter and water. Our survival is largely impacted by our collective mental state.

So many people feel obligated to live mediocre lives. They wake up in the morning knowing that they have the option to do better and be better but they choose not to. This is partially due to the fact that we feel as if we are not good enough to have our dream lives.

We don’t take risks because we are afraid of the unknown. We don’t invest in ourselves emotionally so our mental state diminishes and our confidence soon follows. Our egos tell us that we are undeserving and that no one will ever pick us even though the physical signs say otherwise.

We ingrain these problematic ideas into the very fibers of our brains every time we deny ourselves love. Not treating ourselves on a consistent basis diminishes our sense of self-worth and makes it difficult to focus on the things that really matter in life like our relationships with one another.

Love is nourishment. Really stop to think about this. When was the last time you saw someone who didn’t spend time loving themselves happy and successful?


Journal Entry:

I want you to take out a piece of paper or a notebook and a pen or pencil and answer the questions below— really invest in this because this journal is where you are going to discover your purpose, core values, and true identity.


  1. Take time to write a few things you are grateful for. This can be 5 things or 50 things. Really take the time to see what matters to you right now in your life. Be aware of how long it takes you to realize each item you list and allow yourself to feel the warmth of your gratitude.
  2. When was the last time you took time for yourself?
  3. When was the last time you remember pampering yourself? This comes in the form of buying yourself a gift, painting your nails, getting a massage, cleaning or organizing your space.
  4. What can you do right now to uplift yourself and make yourself feel good? Do you even remember what it takes to make yourself feel good?


Really take your time to complete the above questions. So many people underestimate the power of thought. I remember answering those questions for the first time and being absolutely shocked with myself. I had forgotten how to show myself love and in turn, was depriving myself of the vital sauce of a happy and successful life.

Feed yourself the sweet sacrament that is love daily— it’s always abundant and free!
