Daily Devotion: Embracing Your Now

There are many things that come to mind when we think in terms of what we ‘couldn’t’ do. We dwell in the past and always think of what would have happened if we would have done that one thing. While hindsight shouldn’t completely be dismissed, realize that divulging in the happenings of the past does more harm than good.

“I give myself permission to let go of the past. I have already lived those truths. There is no real reason why I should still invest my time and energy in something that no longer is and something that I have absolutely no control over. I give myself permission to let go and live. I am fully devoted to my now!” —Kyanna Kitt

Our past is where literally all of our memories live. These memories are beautiful and should always be cherished. However, living in negative spaces in time only bring harm.

When you find yourself sinking into dark memories, take out your journal and write 10-20 things that you are absolutely grateful for today in this very moment! Writing and speaking gratitude is very simple but very effective.

Positive memories can be used as fuel to keep you working towards your present goals. While embracing your now won’t allow you to have everything (hasta la vista tea with Professor Dumbledore), you can let go of the past and fully devote your energy to yourself and your now!
